Rheem uses a two-digit capacity code (multiple of 12,000 BTU/hr) positioned after the family and SEER characters. Rheem and its sister brand Ruud share one nomenclature.
Modern condensers start with the family: RA = Rheem split AC, RP = Rheem heat pump (Ruud uses UA/UP). SEER digits follow, then the capacity at positions 5–6 — so RA1436 reads 36 → 3.0 tons and RP1524 reads 24 → 2.0 tons.
Older models use a dash-padded layout such as RAND-036 or RAPM-024, where the zero-padded three-digit block (036 → 3.0 tons) carries the capacity.
